With the Conference theme of I.C.E. ‘Innovation, Consistency and Efficiency’, 35 staff members from the Concierge Travel Group convened at the Hilton Surfer’s Paradise last weekend for its 7th annual conference.
Referring to the theme, Mary Gava, Executive General Manager said “It is about understanding our points of difference to our competitors, consistently exceeding our customer’s expectations by anticipating their needs and keeping our commitments and promises.”
The conference highlighted the strong growth plans for the Concierge Travel Group that will be achieved in conjunction with innovative technology, marketing and operational initiatives.
Guest speaker, Concierge Business Travel Ambassador and Concierge Traveller customer, Gordon Bray A.M., presented two sessions. In the first, “A Concierge Customer’s expectations” Mr Bray outlined his top three criteria for a valuable travel agent; Having a friendly disposition and giving a customer individual attention; having knowledge and confidence and giving a range of options that provide a better deal than the internet, and providing a gold medal performance by going the extra mile, attention to detail and a high touch services.
In his second session entitled ‘How do I make a difference?’ Mr Bray recounted the journey taken by some of the world’s best athletes at the recent London Olympic Games. Gordon Bray called the winning K4 Kayak race in London for the 2GB Macquarie Radio commentary team.
To highlight the I.C.E. theme, the winners of Australia’s London Olympic Gold, the men’s K4 1000m kayak crew of Tate Smith, David Smith, Murray Stewart and Jacob Clear made a surprise appearance and recounted tales of innovation, consistency and efficiency that led up to their gold medal win. Former Australian Olympic track and field athlete Jane Flemming also made an appearance.
The highlight of the day for the Concierge Travel Group team was a personal kayaking session with the gold medal winners on the canals of Surfer’s Paradise. A lucky few got to experience the full power of Murray Stewart as he accelerated to race winning speed.
This is the second Olympic initiative of the Concierge Travel Group. On September 4th Concierge Business Travel held a post-Olympic wrap-up breakfast at the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney with guest speaker Gordon Bray and special guest Murray Stewart.
At the event dinner on Saturday night the CTG Outstanding Customer Service Award was presented to Kate Pollard. The prize was a economy class return ticket to Europe on Singapore Airlines.
